What is telehealth physiotherapy?
Telehealth involves the use of telecommunications and virtual technology to deliver health care outside of traditional health-care facilities (World Health Organization 2020). Similar to in-person physiotherapy, telehealth physiotherapy aims to assist patients in achieving their personal goals through education, strategies for reducing pain and addressing musculoskeletal dysfunction, and tailored exercise programs.
What should I expect in a telehealth appointment?
Similar to an in-person appointment, a telehealth session will always begin with a discussion of symptoms, functional ability, and goals. This will be followed by an objective assessment of the body as well as movement patterns. Based on this information, the clinician will provide treatment and formulate a plan with the patient.
What do I need for a telehealth appointment?
You will need an electronic device (e.g. computer, laptop, tablet, phone) with a camera and microphone. You will also need a secure Internet connection and have an up-to-date web browser. The video call will take place on a secure platform through Cliniko.
